Dr. Michael A. Pearson Scholarship

($1,000)

Who is eligible?

  • Sociology, Anthropology, Gerontology or students in the University Honors Program at UNC Charlotte.
  • Junior, Senior, or Masters students are eligible for this scholarship.
  • The award is given to an outstanding student who has a demonstrated interest in the areas of race relations, expanding social justice and/or establishing a more peaceful world.

Requirements:

  • GPA of 3.00-4.00
  • The student applying must be in good academic standing.
  • Applicants must have demonstrated academic interest in race relations and/or peace and justice studies.

Dr. Michael A. Pearson was a faculty member in Sociology for 25 years before his death in 2002. In his honor, his family and friends have instituted an annual scholarship award for students in Sociology who share his interests and goals in improving race relations, expanding social justice, and establishing a more peaceful world. The award of $1000 will be applied toward Fall tuition at UNC Charlotte.

 


Dr. Tom Forrest Study Abroad Scholarship

($500)

Who is eligible?

  • Sociology
  • Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors may apply for this scholarship.

Requirements:

  • College GPA of 3.00-4.00
  • The student applying must be in good academic standing.
  • All applicants must successfully complete Study Abroad 101 by the scholarship application deadline to be eligible to apply. If you are unsure or you have not yet completed Study Abroad 101, please go to the Office of Education Abroad's website to learn more!

 


Application Deadline:

The deadline to apply for these scholarships for 2019 is April 1st, 2019

(The award will be applied toward Fall tuition at UNC Charlotte)
