SOCY 4125 & 3325, Study Abroad, Manchester, UK, 2nd Summer 2018 - 6 credit hours

Led by Dr. Lisa Walker of the UNC Charlotte Department of Sociology, this five-week program in Manchester will give students the opportunity to learn key theories and concepts in urban and community sociology; apply this knowledge to the study of contemporary Manchester; and participate in experiential learning with community organizations.

Successful applicants will satisfy the pre-requisites established by the program. This program is open to Undergraduates only of any academic major or minor. Please see the “Fact Sheet” at the top of the page for GPA, class standing, and other eligibility requirements for this program. Application deadline is February 1, 2018.

SOCY 2090, Study Abroad South Africa, 2nd Summer 2018

This four-week program, led by Dr. Diane Zablotsky of the Department of Sociology and of the Levine Scholars Program, will provide exciting cross-cultural study to students of any major, as participants will explore the institutions of health and health care in South Africa with applied, hands-on experience. Students will travel to Stellenbosch, South Africa to explore the impact of demography, social class, race, economics, and cultural influences of health and well-being.
