Joseph M. Whitmeyer

is Professor of Sociology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

I have a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Washington (1993) and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics (2010) from UNC Charlotte.

RESEARCH:

My current research interests primarily concern mathematical models of social processes.  I have published on decision-making on the U.S. Supreme Court, social networks, small group processes, social power, and ethnicity and nationalism.

Saul Brenner and I have written a book (Cambridge, 2009) about Strategy on the United States Supreme Court (see here).
