Joseph Graham Jr. is an accomplished scholar specializing in the crucial intersection of faith, mental health, and social equity. With an M.A. in Sociology from UNC Charlotte and a B.A. in Afrikana Studies with a minor in Sociology & Religious Studies, Joseph’s research examines the impact of social mobility on mental health, including education, employment, and economics. His work also encompasses social justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and the mental health implications of the American criminal justice system. Joseph’s groundbreaking research has earned him grants and recognition, including presenting at esteemed conferences such as the Southern Sociological Society, Society for the Study of Social Problems, and the National Organization of Forensic Science in Social Work. Notably, his work was featured in the first U.S. Congress-funded documentary, “Grit and Grace: Fight for the American Dream,” covered by prominent media outlets like the N.Y. Times and Washington Post. Furthermore, Joseph’s expertise extends to practical applications as he serves on the National Small Business Council for the Small Business Majority, representing North Carolina. In this role, he leverages his knowledge to contribute to board meetings, public events, and media engagements, championing the mental health needs of small businesses.
